In a valley in the heart of the Romanesque Conflent and at the foot of the Canigo, Saint-Michel Abbey is an exceptional architectural ensemble (10th-12th centuries) with its basilica, one of the largest and most significant pre-Romanesque churches in Europe, its Lombard Romanesque bell tower, its crypt and its Romanesque cloister. It has been home to Benedictine monks since 878.
Guided tours for individuals in July and August. Outside this period, guided tours only for announced groups. Individuals may join groups.
July - August: guided tours at 10am, 2.30pm and 4.30pm. (Entrance fee and tour: €8)
Sundays: guided tours at 2.30pm and 4.30pm.
