AQUARIUM DU LABORATOIRE ARAGO

In constant evolution, the Biodiversarium experienced a major breakthrough in 2017 with the opening of its new aquarium. Exclusively dedicated to the presentation of local fauna and flora, this new-generation aquarium presents about 300 species of fish, invertebrates and marine plants, which evolve within pools whose scenery faithfully represents the underwater natural environments of Eastern Pyrenees. The aquarium building also houses research laboratories and aquariums, some of which are visible to the public. This interface between the presentation of the local marine biodiversity and the research activities of the Oceanological Observatory of Banyuls makes the visit of the Biodiversarium Aquarium a unique concept in Europe!
