Rich in deep tones, the cello produces frequencies particularly close to those of the human voice, which partly explains the emotional richness often associated with it.
Celebrated by the greatest composers of the Romantic period, the cello definitively broke free from its traditional role as an accompanying instrument and became a solo instrument. This development revealed to other composers the potential of the cello, whose lyricism was so well suited to the aesthetic of the time.

Alejandro MUÑOZ, Conductor
Recognised as one of the most versatile and accomplished Spanish conductors of his generation, Alejandro Muñoz is principal conductor of the Camerata Gala and the Córdoba Opera Choir (Spain), artistic director of Gala Fest and musical director of the Lyrique 1811 company. His career combines an intense programme of work in the symphonic, operatic and educational fields, as well as conducting world premieres and recording sessions.
His vast and diverse repertoire ranges from Baroque to contemporary music, with a particular focus on opera, zarzuela and new works.

François RAGOT, Cello
Trained at the National Conservatoire of Perpignan, the National Conservatoire of Rueil-Malmaison and, finally, the Royal College of Music in London, François Ragot served as principal cellist of the Empordà Orchestra from 1994 to 2001. He taught the cello at the Girona Conservatoire for 16 years, and currently teaches at the St Cyprien Municipal School of Music and at the ‘Max Havart’ Inter-municipal School of Haut and Bas Vallespir. As Artistic Director and Conductor of the Canet-en-Roussillon Méditerranée Symphony Orchestra since 2012, he has fostered a cross-border relationship by inviting musicians from both sides of the Pyrenees. His commitment to sharing his love of music and promoting Catalan musical heritage around the world has recently earned him a nomination as a ‘Knight of the Order of Academic Palms’.
