DOMAINE DES SCHISTES

Domaine des Schistes is a family estate that cultivates 50 hectares of vines between Estagel and Tautavel. Jacques and Nadine left the cooperative cellar in 1989 to embark on an adventure: renovating the family winery dating from 1906 in the centre of the village, training in winemaking and creating a sales network. Their son Mickaël has promoted organic farming and agro-forestry in particular. The estate's cuvées include the Essencial range of red and white wines, which are lively and fresh and come from a terroir of pure schist; as for the Parcellaires, they allow you "to go further in the relationship between grape variety and terroir", comments Nadine. They also produce VDNs matured using the Solera method or bottled young and fruity, and an excellent dry Rancio which, according to Nadine and Jacques, is the root and the future of winegrowing.
