DOMAINE LA TOUR VIEILLE

The estate was created in 1982 in the heart of the village of Collioure by Vincent Cantié, an agricultural engineer at the time, from a few family vines and with the aim of preserving a veritable masterpiece: the terraced vineyards of the Banyuls and Collioure cru, threatened by the expansion of the tourist economy. A few years later, Christine Campadieu joined the adventure and contributed some of her own family's vines. The winery is now located in the hills, where the tower, surrounded by olive trees, overlooks the village and the Mediterranean. Under the sunshine of the Côte Vermeille, the terraced vineyards require very careful and exclusively manual work, very similar to that carried out by our ancestors. The steepness of the slope and the very schistose nature of the soil call for a specific architecture: feches (terraces) demarcated by low dry stone walls, which encourage rainwater run-off and sunshine and make it easier to work on foot.
