Domaine Piquemal has been in the same family of wine growers for several generations. It covers 48 hectares of slopes in the Agly valley, in the heart of Roussillon.
The strength of this estate is that it manages to get the best out of these soils (black schist, galets roulés – or round pebbles – and clay and limestone) by matching them up with the noblest grape varieties (Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Carignan, Syrah, Macabeu, Muscat). The vines, which have an average age of 35 years, enable balanced, well-structured and expressive wines to be produced, and they are cultivated in a way that is very respectful of the environment. The Piquemal family relies on its skills and the true wine-growing tradition to develop a range of wines that are subject to the most stringent quality controls.
Following the building of a new cellar, reception area and storage space, the estate has plenty more big ideas and adventurous plans to tell you about.
