The church of Sainte-Marie de La Cluse-Haute appears to date back to the 10th century. It was successively repaired in the 10th and 11th centuries. Its interior was modified in the 14th century, after which it was occasionally referred to as Saint-Nazaire, instead of Sainte-Marie. The frescoes in the main apse were painted in the 12th century.
