Open except for religious services and Sunday mornings, a leaflet is available from the Tourist Office.
In the chapel of the Sacred Heart in the church of Formiguères, built in 1878, awaits you the most beautiful piece of art in the Capcir: a life-size carved wooden Christ, dating from the second half of the 12th century or the beginning of the 13th century, which would correspond to the period when the kings of Majorca visited Formiguères. The work of a master sculptor who has remained anonymous, it may have been a royal gift, as the poor villagers certainly didn't have the means to acquire such a work.
It depicts the Descent from the Cross, which must have been accompanied by other figures: the trace of a planed hand, that of Joseph of Arimathea, was discovered on the bust during its restoration in 1966.
