For six days in July, usually during the second week of the month, the Journées Romanes bring together an enthusiastic public and top-notch speakers. The programme alternates between days of lectures given by academics and researchers at Saint-Michel de Cuxa Abbey, and visits to the main Romanesque monuments in Roussillon and the neighbouring regions of Catalonia and Languedoc.
On the programme for the first day:
-1pm Welcome to participants
-3pm Opening lecture by Alexis Grélois from the University of Rouen: "Architectural and artistic unity in the New Orders: deconstructing and resisting a received idea.
-4.30pm tour of the abbey by Quitterie Cazes, Emmanuel Garland and Olivier Poisson
-6pm friendly aperitif in the cloister
