I'll take you to the heart of Catalan Romanesque country, to discover the Abbey of Saint-Michel de Cuxa, a major pilgrimage site, an exceptional architectural ensemble (10th-12th centuries) with one of the largest pre-Romanesque churches in Europe, its Lombard Romanesque bell tower, its crypt and its cloister, the first work of Romanesque art in Roussillon, part of which is on display in New York. I'll also introduce you to Abbé Oliba, who promoted "La trêve de Dieu" (God's Truce) against feudal violence and still influences our everyday habits.
Meeting point in front of the abbey reception. Car pooling strongly recommended.
Please allow an extra 6 euros for access to the abbey.
