The building housing the Maison de la Catalanité is the result of a series of alterations: the remains of buildings dating from before the 18th century can be seen, as can the square-plan mansion built in 1762 and the alterations made when the diocesan seminary was set up in 1824.
Today, exhibitions and cultural events are held in the ground floor areas, which comprise two exhibition rooms and an inner courtyard at the foot of the cathedral's apse. On a single level that is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility, art lovers and casual walkers can combine discovering a local artist with daydreaming in the shelter of an inner courtyard where a surprising Judas tree stands.
