Saxophonist Géraldine Laurent takes a closer look at the music of Charles Mingus, as she did ten years ago at that of Charlie Parker.
In 2013, Géraldine Laurent caused a sensation with Looking for Parker, an atypical trio in which she set out in search of the spirit of Charlie Parker. Now, a decade later, she's back at it again, this time setting her sights on Charles Mingus. With Manu Codjia's guitar and Christophe Marguet's drums still at her side, she has kept her singular instrumentation, avoiding a too literal reading, but transforming her trio into a quartet by adding Jean-Charles Richard's baritone. We have no doubt that the music of the great Charles will resonate in its true measure in their hands.
