Regarding
The bridge was built between 1905 and 1908 by Ferdinand Arnodin's company, to a design conceived in 1896 by the engineer commander Albert Gisclard. Gisclard died on 31 October 1909 in a railway accident during load tests, which claimed the lives of five other people. This is how the bridge came to bear the name of its designer.
The section linking Villefranche-de-Conflent to Mont-Louis was finally inaugurated on 18 July 1910.
On 11 April 1995, the Stèle commémorative du Commandant Gisclard, commemorating the 1909 accident, was listed as a historic monument, while the bridge itself was listed on 29 April 1971.
In 2009, to celebrate its 100th anniversary, the bridge was repainted by Atlantic Littoral Peinture, a company based in Donnezac, Gironde. The bridge was swaddled to prevent the dispersion of lead and minium particles present in the old coats of paint.
