Regarding

Created in 1973, the National Nature Reserve of the Forêt de la Massane is one of the first nature reserves in France.
It has been considered for more than 50 years as an open-air laboratory and hosts many scientists from all over the world.
With more than 8,200 species recorded on just 336 ha, this is one of the best inventoried sites internationally.
La Réserve de la Massane has been preserving one of the last old French beech forests in free evolution for more than 150 years.
It is for this reason that it has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site since July 28, 2021.
