Regarding
In ancient times, Panissars was a small village, of which only a few remains remain today. It was crossed by both the Via Domitia and the Via Augusta.
It was on this unique site that, in 71 BC, General Pompey had his trophy built, a monument to his victory over the Iberians, which in ancient times defined the border between Gaul and Hispania.
Its architectural form was inspired by great monuments, most of which have now disappeared. The ruins of this trophy make it one of the oldest Roman trophy ruins in the world.
