Regarding

The Corsavy tower is a circular tower with a half-moon buttress on the mountain side, built after its original construction. This buttress was obviously built to prevent the tower from tipping over into the ravine. The function of this tower was to send or transmit a signal to the lookouts of the other towers in the region during invasions; it is known as a signal tower. The tower cannot be visited, but you can approach it and walk around it. There is a beautiful panoramic view over the village of Corsavy and the Vallespir as far as the sea.

Erected in the 13th century by James II of Majorca, these towers, most of which were installed on mountain ridges, created a veritable network of communication using smoke signals. The signal was sent from a fire lit at the top of the tower. In this way, the valley could be warned of an attack.
