Regarding
Built at an altitude of 652 metres in the 13th century on the initiative of Jacques II of Majorca, it is one of a vast network of signal towers in the Roussillon region.
With a height of 30 metres and a circumference of 25 metres, this signal tower was once used to keep watch over the sea and Spain to ward off any attacks. It communicated with its neighbours by means of a system of lights: at night the fire served as a light signal, while during the day it produced smoke. Its closest neighbour is the Massane tower, which was linked to Collioure castle, the summer residence of the kings of Majorca.
This two-storey, vaulted tower houses a cistern and a chimney, and its 2-metre-thick walls are pierced by several loopholes.
It enjoys an exceptional panoramic view over the plain and the Roussillon coast.
