Adrien Lepage is passionate about percussion, and the drum kit is his holy grail. He tells us about his childhood and how he discovered rhythm by clapping his hands on his thighs; about school, where he felt different from the other pupils – speaking with a mix of naivety and clarity; and about his first love and his first band, all whilst maintaining a simple and delightful candour. His words ring true, and his offbeat reflections will make us laugh on numerous occasions, whilst also helping us realise that different perspectives can broaden our view of the world and the people around us. We’re naturally reminded of *Rain Man* and Dustin Hoffman, or *Forrest Gump* and Tom Hanks, as we discover this character, played with such flair. And what can we say about the musical moments, when the artist picks up his drumsticks to sweep us up in the music with such verve: jazz, blues, techno and hard rock follow one another in quick succession, much to our delight.
This musical theatre piece is widely acclaimed for its originality, humour, poetry and humanism. The virtuoso and his instrument transform this unconventional show into a real favourite. It is a memorable sensory and emotional experience.
