Regarding

The northernmost of the Pyrénées-Orientales rivers is the Agly, the first coastal river originating in the department of Aude. He enters the department by the defilé of Galamus and curiously, instead of passing through the valley of St Paul Fenouillet and follow the slope to the sea, it passes through gorges through the hills. At the height of Caramany, it is stopped by a dam since the 90s. Then it winds in the Salanque, between Perpignan and the pond of Salses before flowing in the Mediterranean north of Bourdigou. Originally the Agly River threw itself into the pond Salses: it was diverted, perhaps by the Templars during their work to clean the coast in the thirteenth century.
