In the thirteenth century, on the initiative of the kings of Majorca, the Franciscan convent was built, the foundation of which, according to legend, is from Francis of Assisi himself. In the following century, it consisted of three churches, two cloisters, numerous convent buildings and gardens. Classified as Historical Monuments in 1974, the buildings are the property of the Department of Pyrénées-Orientales which ensures their conservation by maintaining them , by animating and enhancing them: nowadays, the Notre-Dame-des-Anges chapel hosts exhibitions and cultural events.
